MONORAIL INFERNO 2007 Home Page

STEVEN JOHNSON (Monorail Pilot-Crash & Altar Boy) – Having always wanted to be an altar boy, Steven decided to audition for Monorail after seeing an audition posted for tap dancing clergy. He is “stoked” to be part of this wonderful production with such an amazing cast! Steven is grateful to everyone who helped him to be a little more gay (gayer?) to fit this part, and to Wanzie for creating the world’s longest sentences.

MONIQUE BYRNES (Miriam Arnold) – Proud to be back on stage after a long absence working conventions, cabaret and singing with her own jazz band, Monique is thrilled to be part of this great cast of friends. She met Wanzie years ago when he cast her to sing the title song in Applause. Other favorite roles include Mama Rose in Gypsy and Arlene in Baby. She especially thanks her life partner Tom and gorgeous daughter Katie for their support – and would like to say, ”You’re never too old to follow your dreams!"

JANINE KLEIN (Sister Joseph)- Janine last appeared in a show nearly identical to Monorail for The Shakespeare Festival children’s theater production- Miss Nelson has a Field Day. She wants to apologize to all of her fellow ‘chosen people’ for portraying a character who believes, deep down, that "the Jews killed Christ." She would like to thank Kenny and Wanzie for paying for her therapy and much love to Hashem her father, Sage the son and Eric her lover, the holy post.

JARRED SHARAR (alternate Pilot – Crash) Jarred has been part of Orlando Theater for five years. He has always dreamed of being a monorail pilot. Jarred couldn’t resist being part of Monorail Inferno! Jarred is even more proud to be counted among those fortunate enough to have been adopted into Wanzie’s Pumpkin Patch!

KYLA FISHER-SWANBERG (Jewel)- Having lived in the shadow of her unbelievably successful acting-team parents, Joe Swanberg and Becky Fisher, for so many years… Kyla’s logical revenge was to play an angry pregnant teenager. Becky and Joe thank the cast and crew for acting as their surrogates (oh what fools they be) during this process. Kyla however, thanks everyone for acting just as if there was no 16 year old amongst them. She has had a great time working with everyone. This role allows her to let all her teen angst out, so enjoy!!!

JOEY MONASTERIOS (Darlene) Joey is thrilled to be making her Footlight debut as part of this incredible ensemble. She gives thanks to Kenny, Wanzie, and all her family and friends. Her interests include quantum physics, rock stars, burlesque and satires. Joey loves riding her bike and climbing to the tops of trees “where the breeze is just lovely”. She advised: laugh often: it’s the highest form of meditation!

LISA KERSTIN (alternate Sister Joe/ Jewel) Lisa is currently working as a singing waitress at Bergamo’s restaurant while finishing her last semester at the University of Central Florida. Lisa would like to thank Janine for bringing her aboard the Monorail and for giving her the opportunity to work with such an amazing and talented cast.

MINDI FRENCH (Rebecca) Mindy is still a bit stunned at being a member of a cast that includes so many actors that she’s admired since returning to Orlando. A native Floridian, she’s excited to portray a true southern belle, and thanks the entire cast, Kenny, and Wanzie for their support and demonstrations of Crisco commercials.

BRIAN WYNNE (Kyle)Brian is proud to be performing in his second production with the Wanzie Presents crew. He would like to thank Tommy for introducing him to such a wonderful and talented circle of performers and new friends.

DREW SIZEMORE (House Manager / alternate TIM) Drew is totally confused, yet delightfully surprised to be invited to join this all-star cast. Growing up in Southern Indiana, he last appeared in Gift Of The Magi and Tell Tale Heart at Actors Theater Louisville. Since joining the “cast” of the Parliament House in 2003, he has grown to love and embrace the theater scene in Orlando, and has become a hometown transient of The City Beautiful

KEITH GOUDREAU (Spike, Child, Clergyman) It all started with a Wanzie greeting in 1975, "Who are you and why are you in my jungle?!" I, being the cutest of the two, knew then it was going to be a great journey and friends forever. Being with Disney in Entertainment, Attractions, Resorts, CRO and Travel Company, I have been honored to be a proud cast member with a unique past. Michael has been one of the peaks of my life journey and glad to be aboard this project.

AMY MULLINS (alternate Jackie / Darlene) – Is excited to be portraying multiple personalities in Monorail; her Footlight Theater debut. She was most recently seen playing bass guitar in Hedwig & the Angry Inch at last year’s Fringe. Amy has been involved in numerous theatrical, music and film productions as actor, musician and composer and is happy to have the opportunity to play with such a talented cast.

MISS SAMMY (Attraction Host, Glamour Mom, Nun, Rockette) is delighted to be starring in her 427th Wanzie production, and equally glad to be working with Kenny, Doug, Tommy, and all the other fabulous talent involved. Thanks Orlando for all the love, letters, and soiled underwear!

DOUG BA'ASER (Allison) – Born in 1994, Doug is an Aries top, who loves tennis, fishing, and riding his motorcycle (any outdoor activity really). A native of Pasadena, CA, Doug moved to Orlando at age 4 when is father was the owner of Orlando’s first Perkins Restaurant. Doug serves as national spokesperson for the Fahr’s Syndrome Awareness Campaign. Doug is happy to reprise his role as Allison, but wants to make it clear this is the LAST time; “She’s supposed to be in her 20’s for Christ sakes!”

TOMMY WOOTEN (Tim) Has previously appeared on this stage in The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Laundry & Bourbon, Lemonade, Carolina Moon: A Campy Trailer Trash Tragedy, Ladies of Eola Heights ( I, II, & III), A Trailer Trash Christmas, and Dragness of God: And The Naked Holy Ghost. At Orlando Fringe: Lone Star, Adrea’s Got Two Boyfriends, Book of Liz, and most recently, Timba and Mukahka in Wanzie’s The Lion Queen. Tommy was just promoted from Frankenstien to Casting Director at Universal Studios Orlando.

MARCY SINGHAUS (Costume Design) Let’s face it; if you attend theater in this town you’ve seen Marcy’s costume design and construction. Marcy is the exclusive designer for Miss Sammy and all Wanzie Presents productions. You’ve also seen her handiwork in many Naked Orange, David Lee, and Fall River productions, as well as at Mark II, The Orlando Rep, Mad Cow, all area colleges, on cruise ships, at Universal Orlando and at Walt Disney World. Marcy was the mastermind behind the stunning palate of costumes she created for Wanzie’s The Lion Queen.

DAVID DORMAN (Musical Director / Pit Singer) Although happy for years to create and teach harmonies for a myriad of projects; this is David’s debut as a paid musical director of a legitimate stage musical. A long-time professional singer; David’s enviable voice and considerable talents have been enjoyed by audiences at Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Sea World, Bush Gardens and at convention shows the world over. David has often been heard as lead male vocalist fronting two popular cover bands, Volcano Joe and Hot Property.

RICH CHARRON (Composer / Orchestrations) Rich has created all of tonight’s recorded tracks. In addition to Monorail, Rich has composed and/or orchestrated the music for the Charron/Wanzie collaborations Forbidden Kingdom, In Close Quarters, Living on The Edge, The Lion Queen, and Lizzie: The Musical. Other accompaniment credits include Dream Express; Miss Byrd is Singing, and The Broad's Way. Rich wishes to thank his family; Brian, Toby, Austin & Soda Pop for their love, patience, and support. If they still remember who he is!

KENNY HOWARD (Director) This is Kenny’s 10th show at the Parliament House as director and his 8th time directing the amazing writing talents of Michael Wanzie. Some of his favorites include Dragness of God, Ladies of Eola Heights (I, II and III) and Orlando Fringe's Patron Pick of 2006 - The Lion Queen. Watch for Kenny’s next project, Might as Well Live, starring Becky Fisher, accompanied by composer, Rich Charron, at OSF's 2007 Play Fest. Kenny will direct Wanzie/Charron’s Forbidden Fringe at the 2007 Orlando Festival in May. Lastly, “None of this would be possible without the love of Barry Miller.”

MICHAEL WANZIE (Playwright, Lyricist, Pope) If you don’t know who he is or what he’s done, ask someone next to you or google his name. Rather than list credits, Wanzie prefers to use this space to very specifically and most sincerely thank those individuals who have truly and consistently proved integral in bringing Wanzie Presents productions to the stage through their unwavering generosity, time, talent, love and support; those wonderful souls are David Dorman, Barry Miller, Susan Unger, Don Granatstein, Rich Charron and Kenny Howard! Thanks also go out to Wanzie’s most talented core production team – Doug, Tommy, Sammy, Mike Nesheim, Catherine Goodison, and Marcy Singhaus. Also “Welcome” and “Thanks” to more recently acquired but consistent contributors to the last several Wanzie Presents productions – Paula Whigham, Drew Sizemore, D2 Productions, Scott Penyak, Spa of Thornton Park and 903 Mills Market. Wanzie wishes to welcome all these wonderful new faces to the Footlight stage and would like to remind you - No one man makes theater by himself!
