Welcome ,
|
|
Just a little friendly Friday morning
reminder:
Our companion website -
www.WANZIE.com offers a
Calendar of Events
available for you to access 24/7.
WANZeGRAM staff member Jeff
Kern does an amazing job of
keeping the calendar up-to-date with
expanded information in pop-up
windows when you click on any listed
event.
Our online Events Calendar not only
keeps you informed of the goings on
of WANZIE & DOUG, Miss
Sammy, Carol Lee, and
Gidget Galore, but also
reiterates and gives complete
details of almost all theatrical and
event listings featured in previous
editions of the WANZeGRAM.
If ever you wake up and wonder what
there is to do on any day of the
week, remember you can always log
onto WANZIE.com and click on in the
left had navigation.
You can check out how truly handy,
up-to-date, and informative Jeff has
made this great site enhancement
right now by logging directly onto
the Calendar page:
Also - WANZeGRAM staffers
Val & Gary Bungart listen
in to every Monday Movie
Review on your behalf. On
most Mondays, the opinions of WANZIE
& DOUG as expressed about a
particular film during their weekly
5:15 PM appearance on The
Philips Phile are posted on
the Monday Movie Review Page
of WANZE.com, usually before our Gay
Movie Reviewing Duo have even walked
out of the Real Radio
studios. So if for any reason you
miss the every-Monday broadcast on
104.1 FM, you can
log onto
www.WANZIE.com at your
convenience to see which film the
guys have reviewed, and how many
Pink Triangles the film was awarded
by our very own film critics.
This has been a friendly reminder
from your friendly friends at the
friendly home offices of the
WANZeGRAM.
Have a great day!

Wanzie Presents A CHRISTMAS CAROL Like No
Other! |
|
Imagine Wanzie narrating the Dickens'
holiday classic while all the stars of
the show (some living, some dead) refuse
to completely divest themselves of their
Hollywood and Broadway personas.
Inappropriate in manner and dress, the
egocentric celebs attempt to portray
Dickens-era Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Jacob
Marley, and the ghosts of Christmases
past, present, and future.
Imagine
Liza Minneli
as
Tiny Tim!
Savor
Barbara
Streisand
as
The Ghost of
Christmas Future!
Picture
Marley Matlin
as
Cratchit
Dream of
Jake Gyllenhall
And you begin to get the idea.
This most unique and downright hilarious
production is being billed as -
"A Dickens - Inspired
Celebrity Cavalcade
Holiday Spectacle"
But what happens when one of the
spectacle's advertised headliners* is a
no-show and the talent agency sends an
un-rehearsed aging Broadway legend as a
last minute stand-in who arrives just
seconds before the Footlight Theatre
curtain rises on
Will Wanzie be able to narrate the show
AND direct the confused stand-in at the
same time?
And how do confetti-throwing Rip
Tailor and Muppet Miss
Piggie fit into this period
piece?
What happens when the celebrity
performers start competing for the
spotlight during the musical numbers?
Wait!
Musical numbers?
Yes - MUSICAL NUMBERS!
We told you - It's a SPECTACLE!
The answers to above questions will only
become known to you when you attend
coming to the Footlight Theater just in
time for the PH's Annual Light
Up The Courtyard event, on
Saturday, December 5, 2009,
with additional performances on
Saturdays, December 12, 19, and 26at 8
PM.
There will also be a Special Industry
Night Performance on Monday, December
14, also at 8 PM.
In addition to the many living and dead
celebs, such as Babs, Lucy, and ELVIS,
all of whom will be appearing in the
show, this production also exploits the
talents of
CAROL LEE MISS SAMMY
GIDGET GALORE
WANZIE DOUG WHITE
And Master Puppeteer
DOUG BA'ASER
"God Help Us, Every One!"
Tickets are now on sale ($12 Saturdays /
$10 Monday) for all show dates,
exclusively for WANZeGRAM subscribers.
Select-A-Seat NOW, ahead of the formal
announcements in the print media, by
logging onto the WANZIE.com Online Box
Office.
This production is sponsored through the
generosity of David Dorman - REALTOR ®
To The Stars - Advertising Patron of
Live Theater in Central Florida - And
Program Underwriter for Wanzie Presents
guest productions at the Footlight
Theatre.
This show is being produced in
association with D Squared Productions,
an Orlando-based, full-service event
production company which specializes in
corporate events and shows, atmosphere
characters, mascot and costume design
and fabrication, theme park
entertainment, set design and
construction, stilt walkers, dancers,
and now - live theater!

THEATER - CHARM
Last year's hit reading of this
new play by Kathleen Cahill, from The
Harriett Lake festival of new plays,
takes to the Goldman Theater stage in a
script-in-hand, on-its-feet workshop
with an all-star cast of Orlando's
favorite actors: Katherine
Michelle Tanner (Laura in last
year's Glass Menagerie), Michael
Gill, Nicholas Wuehrmann, Kevin E.
Kelly, Brandon Roberts, the
hilarious Allison DeCaro,
Melissa Mason in a variety of
perky roles, and the every delicious,
T. Robert (The Big
Bang) Pigott.
Margaret Fuller is tall, plain,
Harvard-educated and published, but
without a husband or child. Her best
friends are the great writers of the
day; Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo
Emerson, and Nathanial Hawthorne. In
Charm, we slyly slip behind these
literary giants and their unexpected
muse, Margaret. Their pursuit of
intellectual and emotional intimacy
becomes a surreal comedy of manners,
provoking the question: What do men and
women really want? With wit and
delightful theatricality, Margaret
glides among the landscapes of the past
as she freely imagines a future. She
pursues the right to love fully and be
who ever she wants to be. By doing so,
Margaret transcends her time, forever
influencing these illustrious men.

THEATER - CRIMES OF THE HEART
The Garden Theatre presents the Beth
Marshall Presents production of
CRIMES OF THE HEART. In Beth
Henley's Pulitzer Prize-winning
play, three young Mississippi
sisters are betrayed by their
passions when they reunite after the
youngest sister is arrested for
shooting her husband. Though it
sounds like an intense drama, CRIMES
finds plenty of room for
irreverence, zany humor, and a big
heart, making it a story about
family that everyone can relate to.
This production includes actors
Jason Horne, Meggin Weaver, Britni
Leslie, and William Hagaman; and
even Beth Marshall herself makes a
stage appearance in this
production.
The Garden Theatre and Beth Marshall
Presents will offer Post-Performance
Talk-Backs on Sunday, November 15,
and Sunday, November 22 immediately
following the end of the show. These
events will serve as an opportunity
to ask questions directly to the
cast and crew of the performance. A
representative from Harbor House
will give context to the topic of
domestic violence in the play.

THEATER - ASSASSINS
Seminole State College's production of
the Stephen Sondheim musical, ASSASSINS,
directed by John DiDonna.
Assassins is a darkly comic musical,
which features nine individuals who have
attempted, successfully or
unsuccessfully, to assassinate an
American president. The musical explores
their personalities and motivations in a
revue-style format. Society may deem
them insane, history may regard them as
mere footnotes, but they are citizens of
America, nonetheless; and their views
shape the nature of American society as
much as their victims.
